Earlier this month I posted about my “technology omnivore” result in the Pew Internet & American Life Institute quiz. At the time I wrote about how the category I was put into uses their mobile phones a lot and I found it interesting that I don’t. I also wrote that I didn’t like the latest generations of phones that have so many non telephone related features.
Which is why I was interested to see the “Phone manufacturers’ features a turn-off” article on the Australian IT website. The article is about the Nielsen Online’s annual Australian Internet and Technology Report. From the article:
Of people with handsets capable of doing these things [advanced functionality], 59 per cent had sent an MMS; 55 per cent recorded video; 45 per cent went online; 40 per cent used GPS navigation and 27 per cent had made a video call. However, one thing we can do is take photos, with 84 per cent of people using their mobile’s camera function.
The other results of the survey are interesting as well.
Its encouraging to think I’m not the only one that doesn’t like to use all of the advanced functionality that are in mobile phones today.
