The Railway Superintendent’s Cottage
May 9, 2007 — techxplorerBelow is a photo of a little cottage in Goolwa in South Australia. It is the National Trust listed Railway Superintendent’s Cottage, and is located just behind the tourist information centre.
We didn’t realise it while taking the photo but the cottage is now the home to Alex FM, a community radio station. Hans, one of the presenters, saw us admiring the building and before we knew it we were whisked inside for a tour. It was very interesting. Another presenter, Mina, was on air at the time and she played a song for us. It was the first time either one of us had been ever mentioned on radio.
It was a really good experience and both Hans and Mina were very inviting. It was one of the highlights of the day and we remember it fondly.
